Abudance & confidence interval :

1) Abundance and its associated confidence interval in the global area are shown above the maps.

2) Select areas of interest in the drop-down menu to get abundance estimates within these areas.

Log-normal Confidence intervals at 80% around median abundance are presented. For total abundance, total bayesian credible intervals are presented. For areas of interest, they are estimated analytically (assuming a log-normal distribution) using total CV and median abundance derived from the CV and median densities in each cell of the maps.

Model extrapolation :

It is important to note that this geographic area is much larger than the geographic area covered by data collected by aerial and ship surveys. Extrapolations are areas where predictions made by the model from environmental covariates were informed by few data. 3) Predictions that are not informed by the sampled data in environmental space can be controlled by adjusting the extrapolation cursor on the left (1 = shows all predictions; 0.8 shows only predictions informed by more that 20% of the data)
